Week 13 Vibes: COM705 Presentation Day at Derrick Campus 🎀✨

Image
Week 13 is here — can you believe how fast the semester’s gone? This Tuesday, we gathered at FNU Derrick Campus for our COM705 presentations with Mrs. Folake . The day was filled with excitement (and a few nerves, of course!) as everyone got ready to present their topics in front of the class. It was awesome seeing how much effort everyone put into their slides and delivery, from creative visuals to confident speaking. You could really tell how far we’ve come since the start of the semester! Mrs. Folake gave helpful feedback and tips that will definitely come in handy for our final submissions. It wasn’t just about showing what we’ve learned, it was also about building confidence and improving how we communicate our ideas. All in all, it was a great experience and a nice way to wrap up our COM705 journey this semester at Derrick Campus . Here’s to the final stretch and finishing strong! πŸ’ͺπŸŽ“

Wrapping Up FNU Open Day 2025 – Crafting Futures Together πŸŽ“✨

Image
A little late, but here’s a heartfelt wrap-up from FNU Open Day 2025 , held under the inspiring theme “Crafting Futures Together.” For us,  students from the School of Communication, Language, and Literature,  this event was extra special. It marked not only the celebration of learning and creativity but also the final chapter of our university journey. Our story began back in 2023 , when we all came from different backgrounds, different islands, and different experiences — yet shared one common dream: to earn a degree and make a difference. Sitting together at our booth, proudly representing our program, we couldn’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come. From first-year nerves to final-year confidence, the Open Day reminded us why we chose this path, to learn, to grow, and to connect through communication. As we wrap up this year’s Open Day and prepare for the next stage of our journey, we carry with us the friendships, lessons, and memories that will shape our futures. T...

Late Post: FNU Open Day 2025 – A Visit to the College of Agriculture 🐐🌾

Image
Apologies for the late post — but this one’s too good not to share! During the FNU Open Day 2025 , the College of Agriculture put on an impressive and lively display that truly captured the essence of this year’s theme: “Crafting Futures Together.” Their booth was a mini farm experience, complete with giant freshwater prawns , clucking hens , fluffy ducklings , and even a black-and-white goat proudly showing off beside a milk can. The setup drew plenty of attention (and smiles!) from visitors who got to see firsthand how agriculture connects to sustainability, innovation, and Fiji’s everyday life. Students and lecturers from the College were on hand to share insights into animal care, farming techniques, and how agriculture continues to shape our communities and economy. Though this post comes a little late, the excitement and inspiration from that day are still fresh. The College of Agriculture’s display was a wonderful reminder that farming is not just a tradition, it’s our...

πŸ“Day 3 – Final Day of FNU Open Day 2025

Image
As part of the School of Communication, Language and Literature, we made the most of the final day by visiting the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at the Tamavua Campus. πŸ¦·πŸ«€ During our visit, we explored a variety of educational and interactive displays. From the field of Dentistry to detailed exhibits on the human internal organs, it was a fascinating experience. We also learned about the birthing process, including how babies are monitored and scanned before birth using modern ultrasound technology. In addition, we got a closer look at nursing practices, anatomy models, surgical tools, and public health demonstrations — all of which showcased the critical work done in the medical and nursing professions. It was an eye-opening and enriching experience that gave us a deeper appreciation for the healthcare field and the vital role it plays in our communities. 🫁πŸ₯ΌπŸ’Š

As shown below, these are some of the impressive projects completed by the Industrial Arts students at FNU. Each piece showcases creativity, skill, and a strong commitment to sustainability. What makes these projects truly special is that they are all made from recycled materials. By repurposing waste into functional and artistic items, the students demonstrate how industrial arts can contribute to environmental conservation and promote innovative thinking. These projects not only highlight the talents of the students but also emphasize the importance of recycling and sustainable design in today’s world. It’s inspiring to see how everyday discarded materials can be transformed into useful and beautiful creations. ⚒️πŸͺš
